CHANGING PHASE OF GHANA’SINDUSTRIAL SECTOR – POST COVID-19

After a massive endorsement from the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) for Ghanaian Locally Manufactured Cables Industry, Reroy the industry’s giant has taken a bold step to install state of the Art modern production machine to help improve its production capacity to meet the growing market demands.

Kate Quartey-Papafio made this known to the media in an interview on efforts the company has put in place for it to be emerged the best manufacturing company in Electricals and Electronics sub-sector of the economy over the years.

Kate Quartey-Papafio said, “post Covid-19 we can have a hub of excellence for cable manufacturing in Ghana to serve the entire West African Market and this can be achieved if the policy framework is in place,” to enable Ghana take the commanding height in the African Economies.

The first female cable manufacturer in the ECOWAS sub-region, holds a firm belief in the Ghanaian and his ability to achieve the commanding height, she added we need to pay more attention on home grown policies that will help grow our industries to enable them to become more globally competitive.

Kate Quartey-Papafio together with her members in the Electrical and Electronic Sector of the Association of Ghana Industry are currently working extensively to help consolidate the gains they have achieved before and post covid-19 because she believes more areas in the countries have to connected to the National Grid to enable them take maximum advantage of the new digital migration that needs more stable power to run businesses activities effectively.

She disclosed that organizations like the Ghana Energy Sector Manufacturers Association (GESMA) have expressed their willingness to collaborate with Government through related institution like the Ministry of Energy and the Electricity Company of Ghana to help them procure more locally produced cables for connecting for more areas to the National Grid to enable companies in the remotes areas of the country take full advantage of this digitization migration post Covid-19.

She emphasized that there is a global digitization movement which she believes the maximum support from the state with right policies will help the Electrical and Electronic Sector migrate smoothly to help them promote the buy Ghana build Ghana industries agenda, through the creation or more market for the local industries.
